Over the past two decades, she has litigated major landmark cases before the Israeli Supreme Court on behalf of Palestinians on both sides of the Green Line. Her clients have included the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian civil and human rights organizations, representative bodies of the Palestinian community in Israel, cultural and feminist organizations, and individuals. Her litigation has addressed equality and discrimination, citizenship and political participation, freedom of expression, social and economic rights, and violations arising from Israel\u2019s occupation and policies toward Palestinians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her current legal and intellectual work examines Israel\u2019s legal and constitutional regime through a settler-colonial framework, focusing on how law has been structured and deployed to fragment Palestinians into different legal and political statuses, facilitate territorial expansion, and maintain systems of domination in furtherance of the Zionist political project. Her work also examines the tension between this domestic legal architecture and international law, including questions of occupation, annexation, accountability and the international legitimacy accorded to Israeli legal institutions. Sawsan also serves as co-supervisor at the Human Rights Clinic at Tel Aviv University.
